KUALA LUMPUR: A mass swab test held in the Parliament recently in view of the special parliamentary sitting on Monday has detected three MPs who were found to be Covid-19 positive.
An anonymous source said that four other lawmakers have been flagged as close contacts to the three, and all seven of them are currently under mandatory quarantine.
The same source has leaked that the test which was conducted on the same day found that 35 parliament officers are also tested positive and are under quarantine.
This matter has yet to be officially confirmed by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun’s office.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon’s aide has shared that all officers of the Deputy Speaker have tested negative and completed their vaccination already.
Utusan Malaysia on the other hand had cited a source and listed the names of the MPs who had tested positive. They are Bachok MP, Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, as well as Bagan Datuk MP and Umno president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Malaysiakini had also reported Nibong Tebal MP and deputy higher education minister, Datuk Mansor Othman also tested positive for Covid-19 by quoting anonymous sources. National news agency, Bernama reported that the majority of MPs have already received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine and the remaining 35 have received at least one dose while four MPs have not been vaccinated for certain reasons.
They are however still allowed to attend the Dewan Rakyat sittings. – MALAY MAIL.
