Bandar Seri Begawan – The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) of Brunei has announced all indoor sports centres including gyms, fitness centres, swimming pools and bowling centres to be temporarily shut down from Aug 8, 2021. This decision was made following the rapid emergence of local community cases in Brunei.
Three new clusters were identified yesterday and 17 new local cases were recorded. The restriction is also applicable to outdoor sports centres including outdoor playgrounds and golf courses. The public and organisers were also informed that all events relating to sports are not allowed and should be temporarily postponed.
Meanwhile, senior citizen activity centres, museums, galleries and libraries, centres for persons with different abilities including Pusat Bahagia in all four districts and childcare centres as well as service counters at MCYS and departments under it will also be temporarily closed.
The temporary closure of service counters are those found at the MCYS, Community Development Department, Youth and Sports Department, Language and Literature Bureau, Museums Department, Brunei History Centre and National Service Programme Division. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
