KGV 10s line out at Georgian fields

"Crouch, pause, engage.....set!"

That is a phrase you will hear a lot if you head down to the KGV and Seremban Municipal Council fields this weekend as the more than 2000 participants will fight it out to win the prestigious 12th SUPER KGV 10's International Championships.

Two days of action will see teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Indonesia push, run, pass  and tackle their way to become champions in their category.

There are six categories in all, with 122 teams from schools and clubs contesting the Under 10's, Under 12's, Under 13's, Under 14's, Under 15's and Under 16's divisions.

According to tournament secretary, Husnizan Hussain ,  the championships are a prestigious school level rugby competition under the cluster school rugby excellence development programme of the Education Ministry, with the cooperation of the Negeri Sembilan government.

It is a big weekend and a great introduction and preparation for the youngsters to play competitive rugby in front of large enthusiastic crowds.

Malaysian rugby in general  is experiencing a golden period at the moment with the national team in the running to make the world cup next year,  so talent scouts will be keeping their eyes on all the games to earmark potential players of the future.

Although thee is shade under the tents, take an umbrella as it will more than likely rain and it will also keep you in the shade when the sun eventually comes out.
