The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) donated goodie bags and ang pow to 100 children today at a ceremony in Seremban.
Held at the Negeri Sembilan Women's Asociation building near Taman Tasik in Seremban, the children aged under 12, were selected by headmasters of local schools throughout the Negeri Sembilan region as the most worthy recipients.
Mums and dads sat on one side of the room with their families while MCA representatives sorted out where the children were to sit on the other just behind the dignitaries.
Wanita MCA deputy chairman and state chapter head Datuk Seri Lee Pit Chern said they received support from 25 generous donors.
“Our message was simple. We only asked the donors to contribute an ang pow for a child from each of the families.
“It was up to each donor how much he or she wished to contribute,” she said at the ang pow presentation in Seremban.
The event was held at the NSWO building in Seremban and attended by members of the state Wanita MCA, Pekerti and NSWO.
For many parents the contributions are a vital source of enjoyment for the needy families over the Chinese New Year.
