If you ever want to meet an ostrich and learn all about this odd flightless bird then the Jelita Ostrich farm in Seremban is the place to do it.
It is Malaysia's first ever ostrich farm and is located about 13km from Seremban on the Jalan Jelebu road to Pantai and it is well worth a short visit.
The staff are very friendly, if not a little shy, and very knowledgable and the area is well kept and clean.
It is a one-time experience where you can feed, touch and even ride the big birds. It's entirely safe as the handlers are experienced and the birds are used to humans around and touching them. You can even stand on top of ostrich eggs to see how strong they are.
There are other animals on the large farm that you can see including deer, ducks, water buffalo wallowing in muddy pits and rabbits etc.
All in all, it's a great little stopover for the kids and the entry fee of RM10 for adults is reasonable.
If you like there are some ostrich products for sale in the souvenir shop, including oils and feathers.
The farm is open from 9am to 5pm.
