If you're looking for something to do this weekend you should join up with AWAN Adventure this coming Sunday and let them guide you to the 885m summit of Mt Datuk.
The climb will take about two to three hours at an easy pace, fitter people can do it in 45 minutes, and before returning to the bottom you get to do some abseiling as there are some great formations of rocks on the summit.
AWAN Adventure was founded in 2011, as a recreational and outdoor event organizer, with it's initial objective to unite outdoor-junkies around the world, promote Malaysian outdoor locations, collaborate and share information and improve standards.
Founded by Zainul Fikri Mohd Idris, the company offer relatively cheap and affordable packages primarily focussing on mountaineering and climbing, canyoning and cascading in Peninsular and East Malaysia.
So depending on your skill level they will help you climb the highest Malaysian mountain at Mt Kinabalu in Sabah or just slush your way through some small streams and canyoms, wet or dry.
Last weekend they took a group through some water filled canyons at Batu Maloi near Tampin and there are still places available for Sundays climb.
You are advised to bring your own food and water and a god pair of hiking boots or comfortable shoes.
