KUALA LUMPUR: National paralympic swimmer Muhammad Nur Syaiful Zulkafli is excited to meet and compete against his idol from Brazil, Daniel Dias at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games scheduled from Aug 24 to Sept 5.
The Sarawak born swimmer who will be making his debut has expressed his excitement about competing in Tokyo as it may be his last chance to compete against Daniel who is rumoured to retire after the Games in Japan.
He will be competing in the S5 (limb disability) category in the 50 metres (m), 100m and 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events.
The 25 year-old swimmer who has participated in three games is one of the best para swimmers in the world as he has won 24 Paralympic Games medals to date. He is confident that he is 100% ready physically and mentally to create a surprise or two at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.
Twenty two athletes will be representing Malaysia in the Tokyo Paralympic Games and will be competing in nine sports and 32 events in total.
