Malaysia Covid cases hits 1 million


KUALA LUMPUR: A record – breaking weekend of new daily Covid case rates has taken Malaysia to a total of more than a million recorded Covid-19 cases.

The number of cases on Sunday was ear-marked at 17,405 which breaking Saturday’s record of 15,902. 

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has announced that the Sunday cases have brought Malaysia’s cumulative total to 1,013,438. The total number of cases within Klang Valley is 10,545 and a hike can be seen in Kedah cases. 

The current total number of active cases in the country is 160,903 with Dr Noor Hisham stating that Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Kedah today have recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in each respective state since the beginning of this pandemic.

Six out of 17,045 cases were imported into the country from overseas while the remaining were transmitted locally. 

Malaysia’s infectivity rate as of Saturday is at 1.11 while Terengganu is at 1.36. All other states recorded infectivity rates above 1.0 except Labuan and Perlis. – MALAY MAIL
