LIONS mission is to serve

Their web page says it best – Lions serve. It’s that simple, and LIONS members have been doing it since they first began in 1917.

LIONS clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort by improving and engaging with their local community -and from that local connection – the world.

LIONS clubs are everywhere.

District Governor of LIONS 308 B1 Tan Teoh came to Seremban recently and along with President of Lions Club – Seremban Central Phil Koh, explained that LIONS “is a service organisation that empowers volunteers to work for their communities, meet the humanitarian needs required, encourage peace and promote international understanding through the club”.

Thirty odd LIONS members in Seremban a few weekends ago came together to deliver food packs, some tailored to families that require milk powder for young children, around two tamans in Seremban that have been hampered by the COVID virus.

Families in the selected areas were screened previously and 100 packs valued at about RM68, full of essential cooking items were delivered to those deemed to need it most.

An anonymous foundation was the generous sponsor for this weekends food pack delivery and they plan others for the future.

Some LIONS groups not only deliver care packs to families but also offer some training and advice in gardening and recycling.

Great organisation.

A recent statement from a LIONS leader:

“SERVE FROM THE HEART”.

During these challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic, we, volunteers of humanitarian services can do so much – food bank, feeding the hungry, counselling those who have lost their jobs, guiding those who are suffering from depression and seeking help for those suffering from mental illness etc just to mention a few.

We pray that very soon, we will see the light in the tunnel and our lives will be normal again. With the high rate of vaccination, we must remain positive and look forward to happier times for all.
