Kluang car crash kills mum and baby


JOHOR BAHRU: An attempt by the husband to overtake a lorry resulted in two familial fatalities.

Thirty five year old wife Norashidah Zakaria and their six-month-old daughter, Nur Azra Hanan succumbed to injuries during the 3.35 pm incident.

The Nissan Cefiro driven by the husband was involved in a head-on collision with a Proton Wira from the opposite direction at KM 21, Jalan Renggam-Simpang Renggam, near Kluang this afternoon.

The driving husband, 37 year-old Muhammad Shahril Amran, his 55 years old mother Manja Jaafar and the 54 year old Proton Wira driver Mohd Sul Shahri all suffered head injuries and were rushed to Kluang Hospital for further treatment. 

ACP Low Hang Seng the Kluang district police chief has stated that the accident happened at a bend and double white line area during rainy conditions. – The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 – Bernama
