Raphael Varane from Real Madrid joins Manchester United on a four-year deal until June 2025 for a fee of around £41m including add-ons. His arrival was announced as the 28-year-old walked out in front of a packed Old Trafford crowd ahead of United’s Premier League opener against Leeds on Saturday.
The transfer was agreed last month and the France international will be wearing the No19 shirt and becomes United’s third summer signing after winger Jadon Sancho and goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Varane has shared that he could not turn down the chance to join Manchester Uniter one of the most iconic clubs in world football and play in the Premier League. He has a lot more that he wants to achieve in his career and he is aware that he is joining a squad full of great players who all have the same determination to win matches and trophies.
The manager of the club Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shared that he is absolutely delighted that they have managed to secure one of the best defenders in the world over the last 10 years. Raphael is a proven winner who they have tracked over a long period of time and they know just how much of a dedicated professional he is. – REUTERS
