Messi joins Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at France’s PSG

BARCELONA: Lionel Messi’s father has shared on Tuesday that his son has agreed to join French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) following his abrupt departure from Barcelona. The duo was seen by Reuters reporters at the Barcelona airport after it was reported by French newspaper L’Equipe and Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo that the Argentine midfielder had reached an agreement to join PSG on a two-year deal.

Messi has established himself as one of the greatest footballers of all time during a glittering, trophy-laden career at Barcelona, the club he joined as a schoolboy. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner, wept on Sunday as he bade farewell to his boyhood team when the club could no longer afford to keep him because of La Liga’s fair play rules.

PSG currently has two of the world’s best players which is Messi’s former Barcelona teammate Neymar and young France striker Kylian Mbappe. The addition of Barcelona’s all-time record scorer with 682 goals will make the already formidable frontline even stronger and will boost the club’s ambitions to win a first-ever Champion League. – Reuters
